You will need to obtain a permit to be in the mountains. Some of the trekking areas require you to get a special permit. However, the Everest base camp trek needs a normal and regular permit for trekking in the region. This trek permit is also called the Everest National Park permit. Without this permit, you will not be allowed to trek in this region. The permit cost is USD 30 to get an Everest base camp trekking permit.
You will need TIMS card, national park permits and local government royalty to trek to the Everest base camp. However, all such costs will be covered when you book our package.
The Everest Base Camp Trek starts from Lukla, after taking a flight from Kathmandu or Ramechhap. The trail from Lukla extends to Phakding along the Dudh Koshi river valley and then to Namche Bazaar. On the way ahead, a breathtaking view of Everest flashes a smile at you from the premises of Tengboche monastery.
On walking downwards to the village of Pangboche and upwards to Dingboche, one can get acquainted with the local culture and traditions of the Sherpa people. Then following the Khumbu glacier, we will reach Lobuche from where we can enjoy the view of mountain peaks such as Ama Dablam, Tawache, etc.
The next destination will be Gorakhsep from where we can move towards the Everest Base Camp - the ultimate destination on the trip.

Although the ultimate destination of most of the trekking adventures in Everest is the base camp, there are different ways to reach there. The most common route that people take these days is from Lukla which advances towards the base camp via Dingboche.
However, some trekkers also choose to go through Gokyo Lakes and Cho La Pass and reach the base camp eventually.
Some of the trekkers also choose to start the trek from Jiri instead of Lukla. Starting a trek from Jiri is what people used to do before the airport in Lukla was established. Thus, people call this trek also by the name classic Everest base camp trek. The adventure needs an additional week to what you need to start the trek from Lukla.

We have an early morning flight to Lukla today. So, we drive to the airport for an exciting Himalayan flight to the gateway to the Everest region. A wonderful flight on a small airplane takes us to the beautiful town of Lukla with the views of stunning mountains.
Please note that the flight to Lukla these days are operated from Kathmandu and Ramechhap and during the high trekking seasons, most of the flights take off from Ramechhap. To fly from Ramechhap, we need to drive 4-5 hours from Kathmandu.
After landing at Lukla, we meet our whole trekking crew and get ready to walk for the day. It is an easy start of the walk of the adventure trek to the Everest Base Camp. We are going to trek to Phakding village on the bank of the Dudh Koshi River. Around four hours of trek introduces us to the trail, surroundings, nature, and the views of mountains in the Everest region. The atmosphere of our overnight site, Phakding, feels amazing on the bank of the gushing river.

The second day of the walk today takes us to the beautiful and famous Sherpa town of Namche Bazar at the elevation of 3,440 meters above sea level. Almost all uphill walk for the day takes us past beautiful natural surroundings of nature and the view of mountains. As we enter the Sagarmatha National Park today, we will also walk over several suspension bridges over the gushing river.
Finally, we reach Namche Bazar after the walk of around six hours. The view of the mountains and wonderful surroundings of Namche Bazar helps us relax and settle. We take it easy to acclimatize well at the changing climatic situation and elevation.

We have an extra day stopover at Namche Bazar today that will help us acclimatize well before we head further higher. Namche Bazar has beautiful places in the surroundings where we can go for day hiking and exploration instead of staying idle at the lodge and bazaar. The hiking exploration for the day will also help us get better acclimatized and we become ready to trek to the higher elevation.

As we are getting used to with the thinning air of the higher elevation, we prepare to trek to the next place. Our walk for the day in the region takes us to Tengboche village that is famous for its beautiful monastery and the view of mountains like Ama Dablam it provides. Around seven hours of the walk takes us up and down the mountains and through stream and nature with a view to the destination.
We will have time to explore the beautiful Tengboche Monastery and its surroundings after settling into the lodge.

We continue further higher on our trek and the trek today takes us to Dingboche to stay overnight. When we reach the overnight destination today, we will already be at the elevation of 4,410 meters above sea level. Another beautiful day of trekking through local settlements and natural surroundings has so many beautiful things to enjoy. From lush nature to changing the landscapes to the wonderful culture and lifestyle of the Sherpa people living in the region is simply awesome.

It is time to take another acclimatization day before we trek further higher towards the base camp of the highest mountain in the world. We again go, like at Namche Bazar, for a hiking trip to the surrounding destinations. The exploration today will bring us some spectacular views of the mountains and surrounding landscapes. We will spend day hiking and exploring the surroundings of Dingboche.

Time to trek to another destination. We start early and walk through the glacial path on the famous Khumbu glacier today towards Lobuche as our destination for the day. The landscape changes drastically and the wilderness grows to a more peaceful and magnificent one. We will walk through the trail that’s filled with huge boulders and moraine.
We will also feel the oxygen level growing thinner as we trek higher. Slowly but ultimately, we will make it to Lobuche to stay overnight. The beautiful surroundings of Lobuche help us feel better after we check into the guest house.

Finally, the most exciting day of the trip has arrived.
We are going to be at the base camp of Mt. Everest and enjoy the blissful moments there. We will trek towards Gorakshep that is our overnight stop for the day and check into a lodge before heading to the base camp. The walk to the Everest base camp starts after relishing our lunch at the highest overnight site for the trip, Gorakshep.
Eventually, we will reach the famous Everest Base Camp and enjoy the overwhelmingly beautiful surroundings of the base camp and spend some beautiful moments there. Later, we will to trek back to Gorakshep to stay overnight. The day has brought us to the base camp of the highest mountain in the world.

Although every day of the adventure trek to the Everest base camp is exciting, we are due another incredibly exciting moment of the trip. The early morning hiking trip to the Kalapatthar viewpoint is what we are looking forward to early in the morning. Our early morning effort to hike to the highest elevation of the trek is worth going for. The panoramic view of the Mt. Everest and other mountains in the surroundings is simply breathtaking. We will also get to enjoy a beautiful sunrise over the mountains.
Later, we hike back down to Gorakshep to have breakfast and trek further down to Pheriche to stay overnight. Pheriche is a famous overnight stop for trekkers for the day.
